Trama: M'Lynn è in ansia per la figlia Shelby, che è incinta nonostante il parere contrario dei medici. Shelby infatti è diabetica. La consolano le amiche Ouiser, una litigiosa signora con due mariti alle spalle, Clairee e Annelle, che sta fuggendo da un matrimonio infelice.
